Is there a way to link one image to a button on your Home Screen, so that it appears at one touch? I don't want to access my camera roll.

Not sure about assigning an image to a button, I don’t think that’s a feature. Alternatively you could set it as a contact image and create a contact shortcut on your homepage or a widget so it displays the image, no need to fill in any data fields, just name it so all you’d have to do is tap the contact shortcut and the image would show up

When you say “button”, do you mean a physical button or an app?

You could create an album in your photos and add only this image. Then add a widget to your Home Screen for the photos app - and select for it to only shuffle photos in this one specific album. It would be a widget so slightly bigger than an app size but means you can click one button and it would open that image and always have it available for you

No, I do not know. If I knew, I wouldn't need to ask. AFAIK a widget is a thingy (exactly, 66babe) that fits in a can of beer so that it froths satisfactorily.

So I've made a contact, but how do I make it sit on the Home Screen?

I just asked software engineer dh what the thingy in a beer can is, and he answered, "a widget".

"So what's a widget on a phone?" I asked.

"One of these buttons? The things that bring up apps?"

Then teen ds joined in and showed us what widgets on phones actually are. But he has an android phone, not an iPhone.

A contact on a widget doesn't work, because it doesn't display the image properly. The image I want to display is a bit like a spreadsheet - it carries a lot of info, so I need the full screen.

This is how it displays on the screen, and even tapping through doesn't help.

I don't want to display my photos, or if someone picks up my phone to see the image, have them swipe and see other pics. I just want the one reference image to display.

Create an album with just that image in, and set a widget with that album showing on your home screen so it displays only that image and no others.

If you have a teen DS, just get him to do it. IOS and android widgets are pretty much the same.

many of us grew up in the era of your phone being a phone box at the end of the street.

things WILL change in your lifetime too & you won't be as 'up with it' as you imagine you will be.

as it happens I do know what a widget is, but I have NO idea how to 'make ine' & add it to my Home Screen.

oh and 'a widget' is decades older than mobile phones. 🙄
