i use carbonite so everything will be backed up
(but am now doubting myself - did i ever get round to renewing my subscription with them?)

do i need to do anything else? i could call and catch them before it gets sent off to the geeks technical people

Most places restore stuff to their original settings, which does mean that they will wipe it. If you aren't certain that you've got it all backed up then I would definitely call them.

I agree. I have known of cases where they have wiped it and restored it to new.
