My child will be getting an iPhone for their 11th birthday but I am looking for recommendations for an app that I can keep them safe online.
something that will enable me to monitor their activity and alert me to any inappropriate content they may try to access.
Can anyone recommend a good app for this please?

Why does your 11 year old need an iPhone? Do they need to take pictures of things or use social media?

If you get an iPhone you can monitor everything by setting up screentime, monitoring how long they spend on their phone, and if you believe they may be doing something wrong, you can go through their phone. @WhistleBlower8 my kids got phones age 11 just before they started year 7 because we live in London and I wanted them to be able to check trains, buses etc and I wanted to be able to make sure they’re safe (life360 etc.) DD9 will be getting a brick for her secondary school phone at first and a smartphone maybe in year 9 if she is responsible. DD9 will probably be travelling by foot so will not need to know train times, I will give her an airtag or something similar when she goes to school.

As PP mentioned, they will be going into high school and will need to travel by bus. There friends all have snap chat to keep in touch but I’m aware that this has short vids and I want to make sure it’s appropriate content. I don’t want to find out after the fact I want to prevent them being exposed in the first place. I will be setting up approval requests for apps before they are able to download any.!

I haven’t found a way to monitor what my DS sees on his iPhone. I can see how much time and which apps he’s used. But with things like tiktok, where it’s just scrolling, I don’t know if it’s all as innocent as he says it is.
