I'm having problems on and off with my broadband. We have a wireless router connected to our pc and our broadband is through virgin (so cable I guess)
We do sometimes have problems getting the pc to connect to the network and need to restart the pc a few times until it 'catches'.
We've learned to live with that one, but in the last 10 days even if we get on the network then explorer sometimes just won't connect to anything, not even our virgin account.
It doesn't happen all the time (I'm on here now!) but even if wireless connection information is showing the speed is up at 48 Mbps, signal strength good and status connected we can't get anywhere
SO anyone got any ideas if it is it likely to be a problem with explorer and I need to reload (I've been wondering whether to change to firefox in any case?), a problem with our network, or a problem at the Virgin end? (before I go grey and spend a fortune calling Virgin) or even the pc?
One other clue - thames water have been digging up our road this and last week, so is it possible that they've disturbed the connection to the virgin box which is in the next street? (Sorry, I am clueless as to how this all works as you can see - maybe there are internet pixies running between here and there?)
Phew
all suggestions gratefully received. And apologies if I don't come back immediately as I may not be able to get online for a while!
thanks
