Ds is 13 and still under my family control. In September we got new phones and it was really difficult setting up his phone because of the parental controls.

Unfortunately he got my old phone and it's now on the blink so thinking he needs a new one before it goes pop.

I could get him to not be under parental control but the main thing we have it for is so I know where he/his phone is.

What's the best way to put location tracking on, with his permission, if he graduates Google to not be under parental control?

God I hate phone stress.

I'm just not an iPhone person but thanks for the suggestion.

I'm in two minds what to do for the best. I truly hate phone stuff. I could leave him on family link a bit longer but it definitely caused some issues in setting up the new phone last time. Or else it's the hassle of trying to graduate him off it and check he's still in the family group for backing up and storage. I find Google products so confusing.

Life360 app. Free version

My ds relinquished control on Google family link when he turned 13. We use life 360 to track. It can be a bit laggy and slow sometimes but catches up in the end.

@creamcheeseandlox thanks. That's helpful.

Do you know if when you remove the family link control, do they stay in your family group?

Think we figured it out. We've just done location sharing in Google maps. Hope that's an ok thing.
