Can anyone recommend a cheap / free vector-based Drawing package?

That's it really, needs to be Windows (am using Vista).

I used CorelDraw a lot a few years back, so something similar to that would be good.

Plug "open source vector graphics package" into Google and you get Inkscape.

No idea if it's any good...

Thanks I came across that one when googling and another called DrawPlus and have now downloaded both.

DrawPlus was confusing to download and I couldn't get it to work, so that one's out for now!

Inkscape downloaded easily and is also easy to use - all seemed to be going very well until it crashed just now, bummer. Will reload and see how it goes. I guess you can't complain though if it's free!
