Hi
Does anyone know if you can use a GCSE pass certificate to support a birth certificate to apply for a provisional?

DS appears to have mislaid his national insurance number and his passport expired when he was a baby. He is now 18.

'Education certificate' is listed as an acceptable document but I wanted to be sure before we send it off.

Thanks in advance

Is it the NI letter he needs or just the number itself? The actual NI number is his unique reference that is on his child trust fund account.

Is it for proof of address?

Thanks for replying

I think he would actually need the letter - I can't remember as I have popped out at the moment.

I'm not sure where his trust fund is either. I need to get him to do the search thing online as it got moved around. I bet he would need the NI number to track that down as well Confused

The only 'identity' doc he has is his birth certificate which obviously isn't complete proof of identity so we need a supporting document.

Has he got a bank account. I went into branch and got a bank statement printed properly, and that worked.
Probably best to get him a new passport anyway.

He’s definitely going to need a passport. I’d get that sorted straight away. Can he not use a bank statement? P60 if he’s had paid employment?

He can get a copy ni letter. Either by making an account on hmrc, or calling them.

Yes he has a bank account!
No job yet as he's still in college
