Excel - using a very old version pre-SUMIFS!!

I have to transfer my monthly budget sheet from work laptop to personal (new job, no personal files allowed).
Personal laptop is approx 10-15 years old and the Office package is from before SUMIFS was part of Excel (imagine the day when SUMIFS was invented 🤣🥰🥳): so I need to make do with SUMIF.

Is there an easy way around this? Do I just have to create lots of columns where I concatenate the cells from multiple columns so I can use the SUMIF to lookup to that single column?

Or anything else that I can't think of?🙂

You can use Excel Online for free, and that version certainly has SUMIFs in it!

Are you trying to do something like 'if category = 'food' and month = 'january' and year = '2023', is that the sort of SUMIFS? There are a couple of things you can do with SUMIF, have a look at this page, about half way down.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

The SUMIFS might show, for example, the value in the budget column if the "whose account" column indicates me and if it indicates a non-flexible bill rather than spending that I can control; or it might be to show what budget is left for the month based on today's date so will use those variables AND also the value of >today's date so I can see the value of bills still to come out, etc.
