Help with password management

I have to do something about all my passwords. I won't tell you what my current system for managing them is but it's very much not ideal Blush Can someone explain to me in words of one syllable how a password management app works and ideally recommend a free one? I use Firefox as a browser if it's relevant and have 3 devices - laptop, phone (android) and tablet.

We use 1Password. It’s basically a vault for all your passwords. You save all your passwords in it, then only have to remember the 1Password password. The the 1Password app/extension autofills the correct password for whatever site or app you’re using.

Google's own password manager is free, already built into most devices and automatically saves every username and password if you allow it. No need to download anything or type anything in yourself apart from the first time you sign into a site, a little box pops up on your phone/browser asking if you'd like to save this password, you press yes or no.

If you select yes, it'll automatically be there every time you go to log back into that site.

Remember to have at least one form of device lock if you're using a password manager or have accounts set to stay logged in. Also have your Google account secured with 2 factor authentication

I use Nordpass, it has lots of useful extras that you don't get with the free ones. It will keep an eye on all your online stuff and let you know about data breeches or if it finds your card or email info on the dark net. It will also generate strong passwords for you and suggest changing any weak or old ones you may already have.

Thank you all very much. I do see the Google message and ignore it! I will investigate all of these.
