So many cables

I bet I'm not alone with this problem but maybe there are answers I've not thought of trying. My house is overflowing with charging cables and plugs.

The daily use ones are fine. Phone charger lives in the right place and I know what it looks like. It's the intermittent use ones that are constantly lost. Things like steamer, mini vacuum, window vacuum, kindle. They're all generic looking (except for different connectors) and hard to distinguish. Im constantly hunting for cables after trying the wrong one repeatedly.

I would like my house to be the sort of organised house where things have a place and they stay where I put them. I think I need to accept reality: my house isn't going to be like that anytime soon. So the only solution I can think of is to label cables. But how?

Open to buying a life changing product or having a crafty handmade solution if only I could think how to do it.

How do you make sure the right plug and the right cable are used to charge the right thing?

Bonus question: do you also have a working storage solution that isn't leaving the bloody things all over the house?

Not sure this is the right place for this thread. I couldn't find anything more suitable.

You can get a labelmaker with electricians tags specifically to label cables.... Compatible with the D11 printer which is about £35.

Thank you. Is that (or something similar ) something you use?

Its a cheaper version, although my daughter has their standard label maker and it works fine.

Ingotna dymo one withbshrink wrap labels for doing outmr home network wiring, but it was about £150

Just get some sticky labels and put them round the cable like a tag. Write on them, you don't need a printer.

Below was my 1st hit but there are probably loads.

We use the Dymo label type and store the lesser used pugs and cables in cheap see through make up bags

In terms of storage, I don't have any of the things you mention (apart from a kindle which is a standard micro usb connector) but can't you just store the charger in the appropriate place to charge the relevant item?

Ie I charge my kindle on my bedside table, so the charger is there along with my phone charger.

For the appliances can you organise so they can charge where they are stored with an electric socket in the cupboard?

I coil up my various chargers inside individual old toilet rolls and write on the roll what the charge is for. They all live in a drawer and look like this:
