I'm hoping someone can help.

STBXH and I share his old email and I regularly move all of my personal stuff into a folder out of the main area. However I want to send my folder items over to a new email of mine. Are there any shortcuts I can use or is it forward each one by itself and then delete it from the old email? I would rather not do that as there are a lot!

I don't know if it means anything but old email is a Virgin one, Gmail is the new.

TIA

It depends on how Virgin stores the emails. What I'd try first is to get gmail to access the Virgin email account and then see if you can select all the messages and transfer them:

Go to https://mail.google.com and enter the username and password for the gmail account you want to transfer the mail to. Click the cog icon at the top right then click on "See all settings". Click on "Accounts and Import". In the "Check email from other accounts" section, click on "Add an email account".

Enter the virginmedia.com email address. Select "import emails from my other account (POP3)". Make sure the username is correct, then enter the Virgin email password. For POP Server enter "pop3.virginmedia.com" (without the double quotes). In the Port box choose 995. Tick the "Leave a copy of the retrieved message on the server" box. Tick the "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving email" box. Click on Add Account.

If everything's right then you should now see the virgin media account in your gmail inbox. You can then select all the messages you want to save and then copy them to a gmail folder.

I would like to thank you both for your posts. Unfortunately stbx decided to have a spite fit and deleted my folder.

Oh that's really mean, however they may be backed up on Virgins site...

I was going to link.you to this, which if you read through may offers a potential solution to transfering them - if you get them.back.

Thank you. Even if Virgin can bring them back they will probably restore them to the original email so he could just delete them again. I have been busy trying to remember what other websites we/I use that his email is linked to, eg the hospital site for booking blood tests.
