Can I download SIMs to play on my normal laptop?

This is for DD who loves world building games like Roblox & Minecraft & has grown out of them. She currently plays on an iPad but wants a gaming laptop or PC. I want to try her out on our family laptop for now to see how she gets on - we’ve got a Dell. I was thinking I’d be able to buy a game to download like you do with X-Box or PlayStation but on Amazon it seems to be like you buy the physical game? Help! I have no idea what I’m doing!

Download Origin on the laptop and the Sims 4 base game is free on there, it will work on a normal laptop - I have the Sims 4 plus all DLCs along with mods and custom content on my ancient Lenovo laptop and it runs pretty smoothly (would run perfectly if I deleted my CC/mods but I can't bring myself to do that!). Yes, I'm a 30 year old woman still obsessed with the Sims 😂

Also CDKeys is a good website to buy digital content.

Thank you - currently battling Microsoft to get out of safe mode as I think that’s stopping me download anything?! I’ve tried to download the ‘ea app’ to access the free base version of SIMs but it’s not showing up in the Microsoft store, I think because the laptop is in safe mode…..aaaggghhhh!

Is Origin an app? Again not showing on my store, probably because of safe mode again?!

Been a long time but can you not right click and click run as administrator?
