and I just can't do it!!

Can anyone please enlighten me?? As you can see, I am severely technologically challenged. What I want to do is transfer a video so I can email it to friends.

Any help whatsoever will be greatly appreciated and if you can, please explain it to me as if I'm from another planet as I, quite honestly, am so thick where these things are concerned!

Thanks in advance!

The easiest way to do it is probably with Windows Movie Maker if you have it on your computer. Any compuiter less than about 3 years old should probably have it - have a look in your programs list.

thanks RustyBear. I tried that and a message comes up to say I haven't got the cable connected BUT I HAVE!!! As you can see, I give up easily. Thought the Windows Movie Maker looked nice 'n' easy but not for me!! I even tried plugging the cable into 3 different spots on the hard drive and it still wouldn't work! See what I mean - challenged!

Which cable are you using downunder? And have you set your videocamera to the right mode?

Are you on pc or mac? Much easier on a mac, but I can't help if pc I'm afraid.

It's PC. USB cable Rusty and I set camera to playback.

The help file on Movie maker says "set the camera mode to record live video (often labeled as Camera on a DV camera)."

I normally use a firewire cable, so I've never actually used USB, but the instructions seem to be the same for both types.

Thanks for all your help Rusty
I'll try again in the morning. Nearly midnight here this side of the world so I'll head for bed and hopefully it'll all come together tomorrow!

Cheers and thanks again!
