My mobile phone is out of contract. Its fairly old and basic. The screen is cracked. I have insurance but the excess makes it not worth claiming. The phone runs very slowly. I have loads on it. I have only 3 gb of data and sometimes i dont use it.

Here's my question...if i get another phone and contract can i transfer everything on this phone over to the new one? Like i mean everything?
Also will a new phone run faster? This old one is really frustrating.

Ive resisted getting a new phone as i dont want to loose all my notes, apps, photo's etc. I sort of use my notes for my mental health issues.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

What type of phone is it that you have now and what are you looking to upgrade to? If it's an old iPhone and you're getting a new one it should be pretty straightforward to transfer everything as it's all linked to your iCloud/AppleID - whenever I get a new iPhone it updates with all of my info from my old phone once I've set up my Apple ID.

I would recommend popping into the store of whichever new phone you're looking at to make sure it's done properly if you have any concerns - they can usually set it all up for you to make sure you don't lose anything.

What sort of phone do you have?

I am firmly in the iPhone world and you can absolutely move literally everything from one to another and you notice the speed if you have a better handset.

Im not sure of the ease of doing that between different types of non Apple phones as I have never done it. But in theory the answer should be yes if you can use your same account on a new device.

I got a new iPhone at the weekend after procrastinating for far too long over how hard the switch would be. Honestly it was so easy it literally did it all for me!! Contacts, Notes - everything came across.

If you are paying for insurance on a phone you’ll never claim for, stop and put the money towards your shiny new phone!

Its an android Samsung galaxy. Its over 3 years old. And it was old then. It costs me £12 a month.
I don't want to pay much more if i can help it.

My experience with new android phones is that they do make it easy to copy everything over. You can keep the old one for a bit in case you realise something was missed.

Last time for me it was cheaper to buy the phone outright and go with someone like Lebara for the Sim which is really cheap now. MSE (Money Saving Expert:) usually has cheap Sim deals
