Hi all just wondering what smart phone you would recommend for an elderly user who has never used a smart phone before ? Only really need to be able to make phone calls and receive text messages and video calls but need it to be as user friendly as possible as she is really technology illiterate can't send texts but can read them that's as far as she can manage. I'm expecting my first baby and she would like to be able to receive photos and video calls which is understandable.

Try a Doro. My mum had one that had proper buttons (not a clamshell). It’s as simple as it gets And designed for old folk.

Unless you need it don’t use the emergency alert function - my mum used to set it off in her hand bag.

My mum has a iphone that used to belong to someone else in the family.

They are really intuitive and it connects to her WiFi so she can FaceTime and get photos using iMessage

She also uses WhatsApp on it for a group she's in.

She does take it with her when she's out but she doesn't use it as anything other than a brick phone when she isn't at home. So just phone calls and texts rather than iMessages. And photos, she takes photos when she's out.

Any Android phone with the settings turned up so she can access it. Accessibility has stuff like larger text.

MIL finds whatever the Google video call thing is easier to answer than WhatsApp which requires a swipe. I'm not sure how easy Facetime is if you're all apple users.

Doro make easy to use phones but you can't always put a lot of apps on them.
