All of a sudden instead of it going to screen saver it goes blank with the green on light flashing. How can we stop it and it takes more than a touch of the mouse to revive .

get your desktop up
right click
go to properties
go to screensaver tab
the settings you need to change are on there, think it's called powersave
if you're not using Windows, or this isn't the prob, sorry

Go to Control panel and choose screensaver. you can set the length of time before computer goes to screensaver.
Try there.

Have a look in Control Panel - Power options & see what it's set to. Are you on battery or mains? If mains, check that all the bits are properly plugged in & it's not running on battery,as it will have a different power setting for that.
Are you XP or Vista?

thanks have now rechecked those and it should go to screensaver after 15 but not power down or hibernate , so we'll see.

I was reading about my laptop. It would seem that there is a fault with Windows Vista which causes the screen to sometimes go blank. The only way I can sort it out is to press the power button to turn the power off and then start it up again.

Its a real nuisance and I am tempted to take it back to the shop as its not very old and I really can't be bothered with having to download anything for myself!
