I'm completely hopeless at all things tech but can't afford a professional, so what's the solution? I need my site to look as good as possible, while being as cheap as possible, and as easy to set up and navigate as possible! Would you recommend Wix?

My Hubby uses SquareSpace and I believe it would check all of your boxes :)

Wix is extremely limited, especially if you wish to advertise your website.

I'd sign up with WordPress (look up a YouTube video on how to install WordPress on an ftp host, much cheaper) and download a template from themeforest.

What sort of website? Is it an information website or are you looking for an e-commerce site to sell stuff with a checkout?

Not selling stuff, just advertising my services.

Then I think @Purpledragonz 's suggestion would be a good one. Wix is very, very basic and best suited (IMO) to members' sites for sports clubs etc. It's not great if you're trying to come up in search engines for people who don't already know about you to find.

I vote for WordPress too. Lots of material/tutorials available to help you find your way around. There are very affordable digital marketing courses on Udemy that include a chapter on how to make a website on WordPress. You can do many things there by yourself and for free. Of course, there will be limitations, but you can still make it look good and optimize to a decent extent.
