I think I need to replace my iPod touch.

I've had an iPod touch since 2014.

I currently use Spotify. But my own short research suggests that not many MP3 players support apps like Spotify.

I want something simple. Something where I can either connect to the internet and download music or just plug into my laptop and transfer files. Nothing too complicated.

Size wise - I think 4-8gb should be enough. I tend to only download an album / playlist or two on Spotify per month.

I don't have a budget.

Bluetooth would be a bonus but it's not something I need.

This is my mp3 player Sony Walkman NWZ-A15 - the second one I've owned - it's 16Gb internal but had slot for a MicroSD card - I've got a 256Gb card in it ATM that's over half full. It's quite an old device but has bluetooth so I use it with my wireless earbuds and you can transfer files to it over BT but generally I find it's easier to plug a cable in to a laptop and transfer them that way. It also has an FM radio on it (which won't work if you are using bluetooth btw) but I rarely use it mainly because I have my phone with me and can listen to BBC Sounds podcasts and the radio that way. It's a very thin but sturdy mp3 player and the sound quality is excellent.

I've had several Sony Walkman mp3 players - my previous one (also pictured) was the NWZ-A818 an 8Gb device with no slot for a MicroSD card - 8Gb wasn't enough for me what with audiobooks, language lessons and music but the device is really thin and sturdy - I used these devices when out running as they are far smaller and lighter than my fairly large mobile.

The A15's can be quite hard to get hold of - I bought my second one off ebay - I think I paid about £75 for it.

I don't have a Spotify account - I use the free version via the phone app but can't put up with the ads and lack of control over what you listen to so I'm not a fan TBH. I still do my own research and find new music easily enough without it.

HTH
