Can anyone help please?

I can't say much on this post but I am looking for someone who is good with computers to help me find out where someone is messaging from on a fb account.

The account has been hacked, that we have proof of from the police but we know this person isn't in that area they are definitely more local.

If anyone can help a desperate family please message me.

You mean a location? Short of them telling you, I don't think that's possible. Police may be able to trace them but beyond that I don't think you have a chance, sorry.

The police haven't really been much help considering it's a serious matter.

They have said all their tests are showing its location A but it definitely isn't, the person has also admitted to hacking someone's account out of the uk.

We know it's 100% local because the things they are saying they wouldn't know.

It's possible they're using a VPN, Tor, or something else to mask their location. Possibly something that could be unpicked forensically but I'm not sure the police force have sufficient experts to go around. Can you not just block them?

We could block them but they hold key information that is desperately needed.

It's definitely someone who knows what they are doing, they have used all means possible to cover who they are.

What do you mean by this? It's a common scam on Facebook to pretend to know where a pet/missing person/item etc is. They lift information from other places and eventually ask for money to release information they don't actually have.

It's the modern day version of fortune telling/psychics

If its something like that... don't get your hopes up that they actually know anything.

We don't believe it's a scam as they know too much information that wasn't released by police or family.
Even close family members weren't told some of it.

For that reason we know they either know the person(s) or are directly involved.

Proving it is another matter though they have hid who they are very well.

This is too vague to unpack really. I don't really understand your end goal. But you can't locate them based on what you've said. I'd continue getting on at the police as at the very least it sounds like you're being harassed. Keep records of everything to give to the police. Are you safe?

The only way to locate someone is via their IP address. If they use a VPN, even that will not lead you to them. The police may be able to find out, but they would need court orders to get the information. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to do a better job than the police.

@Ginandjuice57884 sorry I had to make it vague for safety reasons. The end goal was to try and find the person(s) behind the fake account.

@pprh47bridge unfortunately the police have been a bit too slow in this situation, that is why we tried finding out ourselves. Thank you for replying it is appreciated.
