MSN Homepage knows what I have just bought at Sainsbury's.....

I am a bit if a luddite and would appreciate someone explaining to me how on earth this is possible!

I went to Sainsbury's a few hours ago and bought a few items, paid by debit card, swiped my nectar card and used a voucher (assuming one of these is relevant!)

I have just opened my laptop and it uses Microsoft Edge and it has that homepage full of random news stories/adverts, I noticed that two of the adverts were for items which I just purchased..... How is that? 🤔

It's called "cross site tracking".
