You should try Phase. It's bloody incredible, I love it. It's like guitar hero, only you can put your own music in.

And it costs £4.

It's a video game for the ipod. Here is some info. You're basically sort-of playing along with your music. Great fun.

oh wow i love guitar hero
am downloading atm, it better be good

NotQuiteCockney · 21/03/2008 16:50

It is really good.

Small tip, though - make sure you add the Phase playlist and the game to your ipod at the same time - we didn't, and then had to uninstall Phase and reinstall it on the ipod. (no extra downloading, though, at least)

Another great ipod game (highly addictive) is Peggle. I actually prefer it to the desktop version...

NotQuiteCockney · 21/03/2008 19:40

I don't really like Peggle. I was tempted to download Zuma, but it doesn't work on ipod Classics, so I didn't ...

Bumping in case there are any other MNers who are tempted ...

Oh harleyd, have you noticed it will sometimes just refuse to deal with some tracks? It seems to have something against Billie Holliday, for one ...

Incidentally which ipod games do people have? I seem to be in the process of collecting a full set ;)

I have:

Bomberman: a good clone of the original and very fun, but the keys usually end up accidentally stop playing whatever it is I'm listening to simultaneously so I end up only playing it if I don't want to catch up on podcasts - this is rare

Brain Challenge: sort of a brain training thing. Well implemented and fun. There's reports on the comments that for some people it crashes frequently but (touch wood) hasn't for me so far.

Naval Battle: a battleship clone but you get special attacks and is actually extremely well done. Great to kill a few minutes while waiting for something else.

Peggle: pure addiction. Play this ALL the time, wonderful game.

Phase: just bought on the basis of this thread - am enjoying it, is fun. But again, tend to play it on a separate "I want to play" session rather than while I'm listening to something else for obvious reasons.

Sonic the Hedgehog: a good idea at the time buy. In reality the controls are horribly difficult to use on such a tiny wheel and I rarely play it.

Yahtzee: a fairly good port. Fun, but not earth shattering - still nice to have in the game playing arsenal...

Oh, I have a Nano, btw.

NotQuiteCockney · 24/03/2008 15:09

I only have Phase. I have an Ipod classic, and Zuma wouldn't play on it.

I mostly use my ipod for running and walking, so vidgames on it don't make much sense. I make an exception for Phase, though.

I use mine mostly for listening to podcasts which was fine when I used to subscribe to enough that I could listen while I cleaned/exercise. I now end up catching up in the evenings and I can't listen and do nothing else so like to play the games while I listen
