MacBook Air Keyboard Won’t Work

My MacBook Air Keyboard will not work. I can’t enter my password to log in or shut it down. Can anyone help ?

The MacBook Air is on. Powered up. I can’t do a thing with it.

I think you're going to have to take it in for repair.

Sounds like it might Bluetooth is turned off or not connected. This happened to me a few days ago and I asked Siri to turn it on

If it's the keyboard that's attached to it, that's not Bluetooth so don't worry about that.

Does the trackpad work? Does the caps lock key light up when you press it?
You should be able to shut it down by holding down the power key for several seconds, so I'd try that to reboot it. If that doesn't help, connect any USB external keyboard - that should be autodetected and might help you get in.

How old is it?

@ArtichokeSurprise I held the power button down for a bit longer than usual. It turned off.
I managed to start it again. It buffered a little then worked. Hurrah!

The caps lock light did come on @ArtichokeSurprise . We bought it January 2020 so 4 years old.

Glad it's sorted itself. If it doesn't happen again too frequently, I'd just put it down as one of those things and ignore it.
