Thinking of starting up a web-based business - I have a good idea, but no idea about how you get a website, what amount of space I'll need etc. Does anyone have any advice, or know of any good websites that could point me in the right direction? Have managed to buy the domain name I want, but that's about it so far. Many thanks in advance.

You want a hosting company to do this, I guess. How techie are you? How complicated a website will you need?

There are bazillions of web hosting companies out there, if you google ...

Yes, I have googled NQC, but what I was really after was some advice about what/who etc. The business we're planning is entirely web-based, and would contain lots of pictures, much like estate agents sites. So as I haven't got a clue about how much space I'd need etc I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Google can be such a minefield sometimes......

It can be difficult. I'm sure someone on here has used the hosting sites - lots of them seem to have unlimited bandwidth and space. Pictures don't take that much space, tbh. And hosting places will let you upgrade, surely, if you turn out to be more popular than you expected ...

Alternatively, I bet there are sites out there that review hosting services ...

If it is your whole business you should consider getting someone to do it for you. There are loads of web hosts to choose from but the most important thing is getting up there in the top rankings so your on the first page of google.

It can take months even years if you try to do it yourself. professionals tend to know the correct keywords to use to get you there quicker.

My website has been up and running for over a year and I think I am on page 50 if I google using search - no good if you need a serious web based business.

There are a couple of places that might be good to take a look at ,If you are bit techie look at zencart, also the uk business forum.

I built my wife web business using zencart and the forum was very helpful.
