Hi, I wonder if anyone would be advise me on this, cos I'm not in any way technical! .

I have a word document made up of scanned images that I may have to email to a few people. It is 6566kb (6.5mb)

Is this a reasonable size to send to people, or is it a silly size that will make some people's computers crash?

Thanks folks

That's pretty big

I'm not a techie person at all but my work email inbox seizes up when I get a few 2MB+ emails.

DixiePixie · 14/03/2008 13:03

Thanks Tinker, that's what I was worried about.

I'm thinking of breaking the document down into bite size chunks. Would up to 2MB usually be OK?

I should clarify that I'm pretty bad at archiving stuff and deleting etc but...

...I'd give a warning and send it broken down, yes.

Do you have to send it as a Word document? If you turn it into a pdf, it'll be much smaller.

Thanks for the thoughts and ideas.

Thing is, it's a 5 page document that I've scanned in. I can't find a way to have all 5 scans in one document, so I have 5 separate scanned files.

The reason it ended up in Word is that I want just one document with all 5 pages, and I was able to go insert picture, highlight all the scanned files and put them all in the document.

I don't know how to make it into a pdf. When I've created pdf files before, it has been in Adobe photoshop and I can't work out how to create a document in this package that is longer than one page.

Do you know what programme I would need to use to convert the 5 files into a 5 page pdf document?

(sorry, that was a bit wordy wasn't it!! )

That's too big, I think. I tend to feel twitchy about anything over 1MB as an email.

Are the scans saved as JPEGs? Perhaps resave them as lower-quality JPEGs to get the file size down.

ALternatively, make five separate PDFs and then use a site like www.pdfhammer.com/ to combine them into one document.
