Apple Watch: Can it receive WhatsApp video calls?

For a big birthday I may be gifted an Apple Watch but most of my communications are WhatsApp- will It work?

Try and get a huawei watch instead of apple or samsung, you get 14 days from a huawei charge, apple watch struggles to do 14 hrs

And just use your phone for whatsapp and stuff

There is no WhatsApp app for WatchOS and you can't take audio or video calls through WhatsApp onto your watch.

Regular mobile calls and FaceTime will allow you to have audio calls on the watch.

I was hoping be able to leave my phone in random places/other rooms/bottom of bag/even at home (frequently temporarily loose the thing!) and not miss any calls or texts - by getting the cellular version - at least incoming ones.
Not really bothered about the video part as long as I got the call as a voice call.

DS uses standard voice calls and text, DH and all friends and most family what’s app. My sister messenger.

liked the Apple Watch 9 I tried on but the lack of what’s app means I’m better
off with my fit bit on blue tooth
