Good morning. I posted this yesterday on chat but received no reply.

Since then, I pressed continue on the dialogue box thinking it was going to reset the end to end encryption, but it didn’t. I googled how to sort it, and it mentioned advanced data settings so I tried that. The dialogue box said I have to wait until December to access it and my data will be protected until then.
What did I actually do wrong? Is there a way of resetting the end to end encryption? As my iPhone is linked, it’s doing the same thing.

My post from yesterday…

I’ve bought a new iPad and have shut down my old one. Before I shut it down, I selected something to do with copying stuff from that to iCloud, but now on my new iPad, there is a dialogue box saying I need to update my end to end encryption for protection of passwords or info in iCloud. It has a continue option, so does that help me update the encryption, or does it allow me to continue without it?
I hope that makes sense, and I’m worried I’ve made a mess that I can’t go back on to correct.

Sorry for the garbled post.

To be honest I'm a little confused by your post, you might find it easier to make an appointment in an Apple Store (free) if you're near one?

I’m sorry I don’t exactly understand what you have done or are trying to do

i agree that going to see Apple would be a good idea

Did you shut down the old ipad or did you factory reset it

If you just shut it down the

I turn both ipads on on

Install all updates on both

Backup old one using itunes on a computer, (encrypt the backup to copy even saved passwords)

Factory reset new one

Setup new one from scratch and restore from the itunes backup

Normally takes about 30mins ( after the updates ) if you use genuine cables

Thank you for replying. I set the old iPad back to the beginning where it says hello in all languages, and asks you to select the language. I’ve now sold it so can’t do anything more with that.

I saw a forum or something which said sign out and then sign back into iCloud again, as the wrong passcode might have been typed in (my iPhone is connected to my iPad), so I did this and it seems to have worked. My keychain is back on (phew), and no more warnings are appearing as before.
