I’ve aged up a level….

It’s official.

I’ve “grown out” of video games. I recently bought a new laptop (for general household things) and decided to revisit my childhood and download the entire Sims 3 series on Steam. After playing for 2-3 days now, I have to admit defeat - I just have no interest in video games anymore.

A few years ago, I could easily sink hours into the Sims, or other games (Dragon Age, Mario, Sonic, etc). I stopped playing around 2020, and since then, I’ve only played a handful of games. Most recently I played Fallout 4, but barely got passed the opening before losing interest (they killed my husband and took my son 😭).

Anyone else just lost interest in their hobbies as they’ve gotten older?

(It’s not depression, it’s just generally a disinterest. A “been there, done that” type of feel)

i think sims loses its attraction because it’s ‘real life’ - when your life is mundane then the last thing you feel like doing is washing dishes and getting nagged at by children in a video game!

  • massive caveat here that i adore the sims and have played it at least weekly for 30 years.
have you thought about changing your sim playing style (doing something weird like starting from £0, or making an alien supervillain perhaps)

other options are obviously trying different games, Zelda is amazing- although I prefer breath of the wild. Other ones that absorb my limited spare time are animal crossing, two point hospital and house flipper!

that aside, yes hobbies change and evolve; try something different- exercise, cross stitch, bullet journaling, knitting, cooking, there’s loads of stuff out there!

Go back to rollercoaster tycoon, or see if zoo tycoon is on steam? that’s still impossible to make your arctic Wolf happy

I went off Animal Crossing last year, but happily played that for months. BoTW is good, but windwaker is the best Imo 😂😂 Not sure why, that was just always my favorite to play.

I’m not getting on with TOTK I keep scoping out the depths. It’s taking forever! When I finally have some spare time (I have a 12, 9 and 2 year old so this might take some time!) I’m going to get knees deep in WoW.

But no if we are talking the best then Ocarina of Time has got to be the top one. Lowest had to be that one that link had to turn into s wolf every 5 mins
