REPLACEMENT LAPTOP ADVICE!

I recently returned my 15 year old daughter's 10 month old laptop (Acer Aspire 5 A515) to Amazon and managed to get a full refund of £580 as the charging port had failed. I had actually taken it to a local pc repair shop who told me it would be pricey to repair as the charger port component was soldered into the board, which usually only happens to cheaper laptops and should not have applied in this instance - he suggested the return. Now, I have no clue about laptop specs and lose the will to live looking at them. Daughter is displaying more expensive replacements to me from Currys - told her I don't want to buy from there as crap if any issues, so Amazon is my preferred option and I don't want to pay more unless something is exceptional. She used It for homework, some games like sims, Minecraft and roblox. Now playing FORTNITE too. She offered up a MSI GF63 thin laptop with Intel core 5i R T H 3060, 512 G B. (ABOUT £630) or second choice a Lenovo idealpad 3 A M D RYZEN5 256G B as 2nd choice at (£550). Both from currys. 😐can anyone suggest some good spec offer approx. In price range of original purchase please? Any advice from someone who knows about this stuff really appreciated.

Very have 20% off laptops at the minute... Ideapad 3 Rtx 3060 512gb £640.

Just to add, the MSI GF63, that I'm looking at on Currys has an RTX 3050 graphics card, not the RTX 3060 that the ideapad has. The difference is the 3060 is about 45% faster on average, which is not insignificant.

Thanks FixTheBone. The wee sod is sulking because I didn't jump to it and order what she wanted. I wouldn't have thought that difference in graphics card would've made as much difference so good to know. I will gird my loins and do some research 😫 maybe tomorrow!

Sorry to throw in another minefield but would a desktop be a better option, a very powerful laptop seems a waste when it has a 14 or 15inch screen, you can get a desktop with a 27inch screen, and all parts can be changed and upgraded

I don't disagree with this in principle, but it will work out to be initially more expensive.

Cheapest rtx3060 desktop I can find is £587, once you've factored a monitor, keyboard and mouse it'll cost more.

Long term likely to be better value though, especially if you're prepared to invest in a decent monitor.
