Geeky stuff

If I should happen to go out tomorrow, to a shop (unusual though that is) is there any chance I could buy a laptop with XP & a 17inch screen

You know from a shop?

Not the internet, but actually speaking to someone, in person, face-to-face?

& if I could - which shop?

I would say that it's possible, with a small shop - rather than a chain-store retailer.

Perhaps try calling AB Computers (01493) 332272 to see if they have any New Laptops (or reconditioned) available for collection immediately.

Could also try [[http://www.csea.co.uk/home/index.php CSEA] 01493 444666 - who list Laptops with XP on their online shop, don't mention retail premises but their address is "High Street", so they may have retail shop - and even if not, they may keep stock on the premises, thus making same-day collection possible.

Thanks Nick

You are always good

I was thinking a bit more high street - but I may give them a go

I'm sure you wanted me to say that places like PCWorld would be good, but alas I don't think they would be of great help to you.
Small local business will be much better for you, easier to talk to, more willing to find the right system for your needs, and you are helping a local small business survive.
Give them a call... see what they can do.

All the usual high street shops had stopped doing XP when I was looking to buy a new laptop last October time. They are all Vista now. There were a few XP ones on ebay though.

Katymac will text him and ask if he gets 5mins after drinking playing golf with his cronies friends if he could call me to let me know if they stock a 17" xp laptop assuming he is sober work mode and can answer such a simple question

KatyMac · 01/03/2008 14:50
