Geeky stuff

So we were walking by the canal, and someone was having a mini party on a narrowboat.

I said 'Oh, my dds would love to go on your barge' and they were invited up, given biscuits etc etc. I hadn't my camera with my, so the lovely man said he'd take some photos and email them to me.

Now he has, what do I do with them? They're lovely photos, and I'd really like to get copies for my mum since she's in some of them.

How do I get them onto a disc and into Boots? It's Windows Mail btw.

Thanks in advance ......

what a lovely story!

can't help though with the geeky stuff, sorry

katz · 23/02/2008 08:19

i think you should be able to save the attachments to say your desk top then burn them to cd.

PuppyDogTails · 23/02/2008 08:19

I've not used this but it looks like you can upload your photos onto the Boots website then order copies to be delivered to you.

Thanks belgo. Not only was this man a breathtakingly beautiful whippersnapper of about 24, and incredibly kind, both my sister and me's draw dropped when we googled him and found out how amazingly clever he is! (Won a Rhodes scholarship, gone from studying space to applying all he learnt about it to Medicine. We are thinking of inviting him to tea by way of a thank you )

Katz, the photos don't come as an attachment, they just, erm, appear further down the page. ????

hmmm my yahoo does that, i think you can right click on them and save but i'm not 100% certain of that.

PuppyDogTails · 23/02/2008 08:31

If you right click on the pictures you should get a 'save as' option - you can then save them to your desktop

PuppyDogTails · 23/02/2008 08:31

Oops, cross post!

2sugars · 23/02/2008 09:34

Well, I think I did it!!!!

Should they appear as jpeg files on the disc? Is that useable?

Yeah, I think so.

cece · 23/02/2008 09:51

or if you have saved them you could then download them onto snapfish and order them though their website. I have used them for 6 months or so now and the service is good and fairly quick and easy!

opinionateddad · 23/02/2008 14:14

if you have them as jpegs on your hdd then you are good to go..

As stated above you can now use an online tool (boots is goos) to upload these files and order prints

or

you can copy them to a cd or USB memory stick and take them to any high street shop to get them processed

chocolatespiders · 23/02/2008 14:27

wow nice story... i am very intredted in this process as i would like to do this to ..

does desktop mean, my pictures. my documents?

edam · 23/02/2008 14:29

aw, what a lovely man.

2sugars · 24/02/2008 08:09

Pants, pants, pants. I saved them all to a CD as jpeg files, and when I got to Boots their machine said '0 files found'. Any clues as to where I may have gone wrong?

I've now saved them to my desktop. How do I go about saving them to a disc from there and avoiding whatever I did wrong yesterday?

TIA
