You know how IE7 puts a little icon on the tab and in the address bar (e.g. the mumsnet 'm').

I want my icon their and it isn't there [humph]

Is it easy to do???? Can someone drop me the code (please)

The following line to go in the HEAD section of your template..

And you need to make a little icon called favicon.ico and upload it to your site.. ...not entirely convinced you even need the code to be honest...

So the MN is is exact size.

I was prob going to have a plan L plate, maybe my icon (version 1 of which is on my profile, has had a cople of change since). It may be a little complicated though. I will try it and see.

agree with LL - plain red L on a white background.. ...nice and clear and more importantly there's a clear associated around what a red L on a white background means..

..thought you were working now LL? ;-)

GeekBoy · 21/02/2008 14:33

oh and icon format is 16x16..

@LL - yep saw that post of yours.. ....will probably get new computer when bonus time comes around.. ;-) Very tempted to buy a mac now I'm used to this macbook pro though.

SlightlyMadSecretSoundWinner · 21/02/2008 14:43

Can I do it with a transparent background?

The MN one doesn't have a white border where it is displayed on my browser so I either need to use the full 16*16 square with a transparent back or give it a sensible sized white border I think (i.e more than 1 pixel)...

OP posts:
GeekBoy · 21/02/2008 14:49

a 1 pixel border should look fine...

The website is looking mighty fine IMO .

The html document on teh other hand....but I am slowly tidying it up bit by bit....

Am in hte middle of an extended advertising campaign as DP has just doubled his workforce and needs to double the number of enquiries to match (makes it sould like some huge corporation that it is not [hmm!!!]), so I have stoppped trying to do the major structural changes on the html in favour of designing posters, putting hte new logo on all of the stationary & organising newspaper ads.

And on top of that all I have a 32hr/week 'proper' job.

Well I tried to create a .ico file in GIMP.

Saved it ad instead of a red L on a white backgrojund it saved it as a pastle pink square.

Looks liek I have failed at the first hurdle on this one

Try using an online service to create the ico file. HTMLKIT: Favicon
