When you have bought a PAYG sim only...

Is it possible to upgrade the phone on that account after years and years of PAYG with the same operator. I have a very old Nokia which I use with an 02 PAYG sim that I used in my work phone (newer phone). I bought the Sim on its own.

I don't really get what your saying but... you can buy a newer phone and put your old PAYG sim in it, I don't tihnk they offer upgrades as such the same as contract phones. Is that what you wanted to know?

yes it is! sorry. I mean, if you are not upgrading a contract phone I know there is the option to upgrade a payg phone bt in my case i didn't get the phone at the same time as this particular sim, iyswim?!

Err... do you have the sim the phone came with? If you can upgrade your phone, I don't think it matters about the sim though... but I didn't think you could upgrade PAYG phones. I am very confused! lol

I got a discount on my phone when I went in to the O2 shop. I think if you have been with the same company for a while you'll get money off a new phone and free top up's.

I got £60 phone for £20, plus £10 free top up but i've been with O2 for about 5 years. It depends how much you spend every month.

the phone is not relevant here

1 - if you have a payg SIM with a working number.. you can take this and upgrade to a contract agreement at which point you will get a new phone

2 - If you have a payg SIM with a phone and the phone dies.. then tough luck I am afraid you are entitles to no phone upgrade.. however.. you can just go buy a new payg phone on the same provider and then put your SIM in this new phone (£50-100).. the only downside is that you will get a new SIM and have to buy £10 credit.. but if you call the provider you can transfer this to your original SIM and throw the new one in the bin..

Hope that helps

Meant to say I traded it in, so they took my old phone and charger, gave me discount and I kept my old SIM and got a new phone.

that is a good option as well.. what company did you go to cos not everyone offers this exchange

hipposcotamus · 12/02/2008 21:48

O2. But I'm sure if you go into any phone shop and say X will give me this deal they will try and beat it
