why not netgear??... then how about Belkin, Linksys or someone else?

I assume this is for ADSL and not cable broadband?

Frizbe · 10/02/2008 15:15

Belkin are crap, avoid like the plague.

opinionateddad · 10/02/2008 15:20

Frizbe - many people have issues with a single brand but it is a little unfair to make these types of blanket statements as they confuse people..

Netgear, Belkin and Linksys are the main 3 makers and they are statistically as good as eachother..

ok.. have you loaded the latest drivers on your laptop??

slso what frequency is the router set to?.. I am guessing it is 11... change this to 1

brimfull · 10/02/2008 16:55

not using laptop atm

how do I find out the frequency of the router?

use internet explorer to open the router management page (may be 192.168.0.1)

goto the wifi setings and locate the channel or fequency tab... change the number and save the setting

et voila.. most routers comes out of the box set to 11 so if you have neighbours around this can cause you coverage issues..

Right have done that...will let you know if anything improves..thanks so much.
