I have both IE and Mozilla browsers, but often neithe are able to call up all pages on the web. They line up site, but then fails to connect to some parts of sites. No connection probs. Been here before last year, and it seemed to correct itself for a while.

Are there any known browser-wreckers at all??

ta.

Dodgy nameservers at your ISP. They are the things which translate names (www.mumsnet.com) to addresses (213.161.73.140).

Normally these are allocated dynamically when you connect, but your computer or router may be set up to use the wrong ones, or the right ones may be flaky.

Worth checking - your ISP website will have details somewhere or you can ring technical support.

thank you Uber v. much.

it works fora couple of weeks, then it flounders..and doesn't quite make the connection to parts of sites.

eg..MN it hestitates to log me in.then refuses to connection to the Talk boards..the little line filler fills up as if it is about to connect..then pauses..for EVER!

Worth asking your ISP. Back in the old days of dialup I had similar problems ... turned out I was using an obsolete number which was due to be disconnected and wasn't being maintained.

Some time when it has died, try pinging the site in question... open a command window and type "ping www.mumsnet.com". If it can get a response it's the browser/web server side which is playing up. If not it's your connection...
