Will my broadband speed actually improve from low start with new provider?

I have changed from BT to Sky for broadband due to being half the cost. However my speed has dropped from 67 mbps this morning with BT to 20-36 mbps since Sky took over. Sky just say it will take 14 days to stabilise and it will improve. Is this just stringing me along so i don't cancel or will it genuinely improve? The Sky app also claims i am getting 79 mbps to my router, but none of my devices are achieving anywhere close to that? (I am not very clued up on this as you can probably tell, and the change to Sky was my idea so DH and teen DSs are not impressed ).

Work for openreach and yes it does it will try various speeds and cap it at the most reliable
if it sends data to fast and line not stable it will just keep dropping out
The difference between 25 and 67 you hardly notice unless you have loads of people on at the same time and doing big downloads or streaming

We needed BT Openreach to fix our telephone/broadband lines at telegraph pole level a few months back (one of the two wire's/cables was loose). It took a couple of days for the connection to get back up to its usual speed.
