Why can't phone screens be like Kindle screens?

Just that. I'd like to sit in the garden and look at my phone but the sunlight makes it impossible. Can you buy a screen cover to improve it?

Well it's a completely different kind of screen, so you'd need a different phone with e-ink screen. You need shade really. If your phone has a high contrast mode then that might help. Turn the brightness up to full.

Kindles have a browser, if it's MN you want. You could log into mbasic.facebook.com as well.

I use mine in dark mode, it seems to make it easier to read especially outside.

Get an old Nokia? You won't have anything to read except text messages though

I think a lot of people use their phones to watch videos and look at photos so phone screens are designed to do that. Proper kindle and other e readers are designed to display text and do it really well.

Yeah not all kindles have a browser. Paperwhites are dedicated e readers. Some types of kindles are just tablets with kindle apps on.

My Paperwhite does. Original Paperwhite. It's really slow and clunky but it does work.

Get a matte screen protector, it makes a huge difference, doesn’t show finger smudges either.
