I need a Blackberry, could anyone here tell me how to go about it?

I need to be able to access my email all the time for work and I travel a lot so I need a PDA/phone blackberry thingy.

I have managed to configure my aol email to go to my outlook express account so I will be able to access both my email accounts.

I don't have a contract and have named bills and passport and bank details ect so I am about to head into Vodaphone and sign up for the best deal they will give me. I think I can get a small business account for about 30 quid a month all in which will suit me as it allows limitless internet access.

What I want to know is how do I set it up when I get it home? Will they do it for me in the shop? Do I need to bring info on Pop3/IMap/blahdeblah for them to configure?

Basically what I am asking is, although I am fairly tech-friendly, will I have to devote the whole of the day fighting with it and then end up throwing it against the wall?

It is fairly straightforward, and they should help you in the shop if you have all the pop3 info with you.
I have a Blackberry Pearl and its ace - before a little incident involving hot tea I had a Nokia E50, and although you could read email OK, the attachment reading was hard. The manual is a bit pants though, but have worked things out as I go along.

no advice but be warned they take over your life. i am sooo close to trampling on dh's in a pair of pointy stilletos (and i don't eve have stilletos they would have to be purchased specially!)

I want a Pearl too, my db and my friend have them and say they are great. So do I just tell the guys in the shop which type of email accounts(pop3 ect) I have and they will be able to set it up for me?

Should be - mines hooked into the Outlook exchange server at work, but I was able to set it up in about 2 minutes.
They don't have to take over your life - you just have to be firm about it. What I love is that I can make use of the dead time when travelling like at airports and in taxis, and you know that nothing awful is happening when you are on holiday without having to turn the PC on.

Ok Horrayy, I have one. Unfortunately it won't be set up until 2nd Jan but that is ok as i wanted to keep my number and Virgin won't send me my pac code for 72 hrs so I can't switch anyway.
Virgin really didn't want me to change but in fairness they don't sell blackberry's so there is no competition in my case.
The tech stuff seems quite easy in reality but I suppose we shall see on the 2nd Jan. Thanks all.

They tend to start ripening round about late August, you'd be hard pushed to find one now outside a supermarket and I'd be concerned about flavour tbh
