Moved to EE today; phone calls OK but no mobile data.

I was EE through Virgin Mobile but now EE direct.

My old sim stopped working at lunchtime and the new one is allowing calls okay but i have no mobile data. EE tell me it can take about 24 hours for the mobile data to be sorted out.
If this is true, I'm cross that I wasn't pre-warned.

Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take to resolve?
