I have received to calls today from different people claiming to be virgin media. Both claiming to be able to see faults/errors with my broadband.

I am with virgin. There is three of us working from home. It can be a bit slow at times but overall no issues.

I've not contacted them with any complaints about my broadband.

I end the call before it progresses, really not sure if this is some kind of scam, or if they can see an error? My gut is telling me scam, but now I'm questioning myself!

Feels like a scam to me. I've never been contacted by VM to advise that my broadband is faulty/not working optimally.

You could always contact VM directly yourself but if everything is working fine I'd let sleeping dogs lie.

You are right to trust your gut!

If they call again ask for a reference number and phone virgin on a different line.

I have been with VM for 12 years and they have never once proactively called me. It's hard enough to get through to a human when I call them!

Definitely a scam I 'd say.

You can check if there are broadband issues in your area on their website. If none in your area I'd ignore it.

We recently went through a phase of being called by men claiming to be from VM after we reported a problem which was fixed promptly. They started calling about 3 weeks afterwards and wouldn't take no for an answer. At one point we were being called 5-6 times a day, every day so we switched off the upstairs phone and let the answer machine pick up downstairs - of course a message was never left.
