How can I get my photos from Photobox to Google Photos or Drive on my laptop ?

When the DC were young it was the days of digital cameras when you uploaded onto your laptop, Photobox etc and got a selection printed .

Trouble is laptops crash etc so I've ended up with lots of old photos still on my account on Photobox but nowhere else.

Is there an easy way to transfer them onto my Google Photos or Drive? There are hundreds so I'd like a way of doing it en masse.

What's Photobox?

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 06/02/2021 20:17

Easy no. Do you have a techie friend who can help you. This tool may be what you need, but requires a fair amount of tech nous.

www.npmjs.com/package/photobox-downloader

That npm package should work if you have a friend who can write in nodejs! It’s published only 11 days so hopefully photobox hasn’t changed their protocol. I suspect it navigates via UI and not API so can be brittle. Good luck!

For write I just mean they can run the download all sample. It’s pretty simple what you need to do.

Photo box will send you all your photos on a cd for a small fee - could you do that and then upload them that way?

Ohgoodness34 · 07/02/2021 14:41

I checked with Photobox.
It’s rubbish now that they’ve released the new editor and I’m going to stop using them and use another company.
Anyway they confirmed that they do NOT send you a CD with all of your photos on (they did used to years ago but haven’t for a while now)

They replied that the only (official) way that you can retrieve your photos is to do the following:
First of all log in into you account and access your album.
2- Then please click on the photo that you want to download and it will lead you to a different page with the features of the photo
3- Once again, click on the zoomed image and this will lead you to another page with a larger preview of the photo
4- After that, please click with the right part of the mouse on the enlargement picture and select THE "Save image as" option so it will be saved into your device.

I checked and there’s no option to select multiple images or an album, the only option is individually, sorry.

Forgot I'd started this so it had dropped way down my list of threads.

Thanks for the replies though.

Technical nous not brilliant so I won't go there (more worried about a download buggering up my laptop or erasing the photos if it's not totally legit)

I think it will the painstaking one photo at a time method

I had a similar issue. My pc pied and I couldn't retrieve all my photos . Most were on photo box but I couldn't get them back efficiently. I figured I would have paid £50 to have them back, so I paid my teenage Dc to do it for me. Gave them something to do in Lockdown and they were quicker then I would have been!
