Can't connect broadband to Sky if using ASDL filter

Can anyone help as I am sure there must be an easy solution.

For years I havent bothered plugging my landline phone in as I need to use an ASDL filter and a/ I never use it, and b/ for some reason I then cant connect broadband to my Sky box to enable Catch up TV.

However, I am in the process of setting up a Telecare system for my disabled daughter and I need to have the landline permanently connected. I am already getting annoyed that Catch Up TV is now not working again Sad. Is there a different filter I need, or are the two just not compatible?

Have you tried replacing the filter?

@Orf1abc

Have you tried replacing the filter?
Yes, this is the 3rd filter now. Sky just doesn’t find the network when I try to connect.

Does the phone socket have one built in? Ours does. In that case you don't need a filter.

This is what ours looks like.

Do you need to reboot your sky box once you've plugged it in? Could also try rebooting your router.

Is there an extension somewhere you’re not using?
What kind of socket is your main socket? I’m assuming it’s just got the one hole if you’re having to use a splitter.
Have you checked for dial tone? Is there any noise on the line, crackles etc?

Also check for dial tone on all extension sockets

It sounds like there’s a socket somewhere with a fault on it which affects your broadband when the landline is plugged in. It’s to do with the line circuits. You may need an engineer if that’s the case, so phone Sky and they’ll get someone out.

Thanks all. It’s the only phone socket in the house so I don’t think there’s an issue with another socket.

I’m going to try the “switch it off and on again” trick to see if that works. If not, I’ll contact Sky as the phone and broadband both work ok when plugged in together, it’s just the connecting to Sky that’s the issue.

Blush Blush It worked, thank you for the suggestion of rebooting Sky!
