Seems daft I know but when I read the threads on Mumsnet often people extract a part of a conversation and somehow display it in a grey box. This is useful but I cannot do it. I have looked at the info at the bottom on how to highlight words and tried wiping along the conversation but no success. I am using an iPad so is that the problem? Would love to know.

You click on where it says 'quote' above the post. At least i think so - I've not used it. So does this work...
giletrouge · 18/11/2020 09:56

Yep! Smile

Pinkywoo · 18/11/2020 10:31

Next to where it says "bookmark" at the bottom of each post there are three little dots, if you press them it brings up several options one of which is quote.

Mutunus · 18/11/2020 11:06

Pinkywoo. Are you using a tablet/phone , because the bookmark only seems to appear on my tablet not my PC. If I'm using the PC then it's as giletrouge said - using the "quote" button with no bookmark option.

Igmum · 18/11/2020 11:11

I didn't know how to do this OP so thanks for raising it. Just had a play with my phone and if you push the comment to the left you get lots of options including quite. Wow, who knew. Must go and faff around on Mumsnet showing off my new sikills instead of working Grin

Mutunus yes I'm on an android phone.

Mutunus · 18/11/2020 18:16

Pinkywoo Ok that's why it's not on my PC

HollowTalk · 18/11/2020 18:26

You can quote a whole post but can't quote part of one - that's what I'd like to do.

ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 18/11/2020 18:46

You copy/paste it on a new reply and then put it in bold. At least that's what i do.
ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble · 18/11/2020 18:46

that's what I'd like to do.

Like this, but it's obviously not a real "quote".

HollowTalk · 18/11/2020 23:37

Yes, I know you can copy and paste, but I find that really difficult on my phone.

Trying now. Thank you so much.

No worries!

Thanks
whopooedinthepyrex · 19/11/2020 10:03

Might be worth mentioning that you can't use the "quote" function with a post that already includes someone else's quote.

So I could quote pinkywoo's post (0941) but not spied's (0945)
