Locked out of my email account

Please can anyone help? My email crashed. When I tried to log on I cannot now get in and am told to run a diagnostics tool, which says I should:

Check the proxy and the firewall.

I have no idea how to do this. I have either Edge and Chrome.

Please help!

I take it you still have internet access and what operating system do you have - I guess it must be Windows 10 if using Edge.
A quick check - right click on the internet symbol on the desktop usually a little square or the wi-fi symbol if using a laptop. Select troubleshoot problems.

You have internet access to post on here - but is your email on the same device?
(Eg Can you access the forum & rest of the internet but not email, or is your computer with emails not able to access anything on the internet ?)

Diagnostics that you have mentioned are about testing whether your device/computer can access the internet, and then whether there is a specific route (such as a proxy being a central computer server that you go through, or a firewall being security that filters your access)

What sort of email are you trying to use?
Is it a web page that you log into and view emails or do you use classic email software (like Outlook) that grabs your emails for you?

What is the problem?
You can’t connect to the web page or the software won’t connect ?
Is it because you normally automatically log in and you are being asked for a password that you don’t remember ?
Are you entering your password and it is being rejected ?

Really sorry that I disappeared! Blush I hate it when posters do that, so just popping by to say thanks for taking the time to reply!

I did get it sorted in the end - v. boring fix, so won't post details!
