Use for old iPad mini

I have an old iPad mini (gen 1) which only goes up to iOS 9.something. But means no apps really work on it anymore. Is there any sneAky way around this?

I really wanted to be able to load it up with some tv and films to take on a road trip, but is this impossible now? Just too old?

I gave on with mine! I donated it to Oxfam - they recycle or repurpose and you can hand it into any shop. :)

Short answer, basically no you can't update it, as there are significant hardware changes in later models that take advantage of the newer IOS.
Yours is still perfectly usable for music, a bit of browsing and simple games for younger children but sadly that's about it. I had to ditch mine as it didn't support Kindle for some reason.
They are still selling for a bit on Ebay.
