Am I being listened to?

If I had an Alexa or google home set up and someone else controlled them... worded badly, start again.
In midst of separating. My former partner had a lot of gadgets. They are all here set up. He's at another address. Occasionally when his phone rings and is connected to his watch I can hear ringing in our house. But that's not the problem.
Today he's lied to me. He repeated a phone conversation that I'd had back to me and said he was at the front door and overheard it. After some thought many things have made me realise it's not true. Is there any way he can hear me? I know that's paranoid but I'm a bit concerned

Not sure how the watch thing works but I do know you can retrieve a list of all convos with Alexa through the app. So it stands to reason the device could record other things if used correctly/with intent.
Why do you have these devices plugged in at home still? I'd be evicting them for sure. Ain't nobody got time for paranoia.

You can read what Alexa has recorded when you log in to amazon account on your computer.

I can't log in it's not in my name, I'm trying to figure it out.
The main one is connected to my tv and I'm trying to find a way through that. I'm not into gadgets but he is and I fear if I just unplug it the telly will refuse to work for me again lol.
If I can't figure it out by lunchtime I'll just yank it out

Factory reset everything! Technology is bloody amazing when you know how to use it.

Your ex partner will be able to though, that's how he knows your conversation
iamtheoneandonlyyy · 23/06/2020 22:23

Yes that's my concern to be honest

Your probably being listened to. These devices are extremely dangerous, and are often used by criminals.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 23/06/2020 22:28

I've got it to delete everything from today and tomorrow i will factory reset it and then unplug it. Be a shame if something were to happen to it so I'll put it away really safely. Really safely

I suspect it isn't Alexa/other system but that he has bugged the house. Bugs are cheap and easy to hide. If he is quite techy it would be a doddle for him to set up.

Alternatively he could easily have bugged your phone.

Alexa will only record once she is 'woken' (They technically can listen at Amazon but it isn't all recorded locally)

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 04/02/2021 09:15

This is long dead but in case it helps anyone else wondering the same thing.
Yes, I was being listened to by my former partner via Alexa, I found out for certain yesterday.
I strongly suspected it and a family member of his contacted me to let me know he accidentally let slip he had listened to me for a while. My child's name is similar so whenever I said it, it activated the echo and he was able to listen to what was said.
So be careful if you have these devices and are in a bad situation.
