Argh ! So rubbish at this and need to order before Monday.

Looking for a decent laptop DD can game on but also draw on so a Yoga / Thinkpad but for the £300 /400 mark possibly more if I pay monthly. But she's going to be 9 although in fairness she's been asking for a laptop for about three years as her brother has a pc in both houses. Ex-H is getting her a second hand bike so could do with getting her something half decent this year. Thanks so much for any help !

I was looking at a Dell or a HP Pavillion for my 11 year old and have got the HP pavillion for him as going by the reviews it was the better laptop for gaming, it was £500 though, but my son loves it.

OK thanks. Think it's the drawing function i can't seem to suss and I think i5 processor for games. Such a mission

Microsoft Surface Pro. Although maybe too good for a 9 year old.

It depends on the games you wish to play but £300 probably won't be enough. Argos have this on offer at £379 which should keep daughter going for a while.

Avoid anything with Chromebook in the description.

Pressed too soon.
Hard drive storage (128gb SSD) is a little on the small size but it's enough to start off with.

Aw thanks for the replies ! Grin
I ended up getting this: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-c340-14-intel-pentium-gold-laptop-128-gb-ssd-black-10193796-pdt.html in case anyone is in the same predicament next couple of weeks. It was £100 more than I intended to spend but I'd tucked a 0% CC away in Jan. It met all the specs I was looking for and use a Lenovo for work so it's quite simpler but with much better processor. Only thing that surprised me - like really surprised me was that it didn't come with the stylus built in. So bought one for £15.
Just hope she looks after it.. Hmm

Thanks again for your help Smile

Don't you need 8mg of ram for gaming?

species5618 · 09/06/2020 15:20

I guess that the graphics chipset may be a a bigger drawback than the ram but it all depends on what games daughter will be playing - I doubt it will be Doom Eternal although that may be a huge assumption on my part Smile
