Y6 DD has a Sansung S9. There is a class txt group, but apparently only those with iPhones can be added. Is that correct?

Also, one of her pals with an iPhone says she can't text her for free, but can txt other iPhones for free. Does that sound right?

Yes you can iMessage in a group of iPhones I think.

Sounds like they have a group chat on iMessage (iphone messaging) so your child won't be able to join.
If they moved the group chat to WhatsApp then your child could join.
I wouldn't take it personally, kids are the centre of their own universe so they probably haven't thought that your child can't join or thought of a way round it.
Could you suggest to them that they start a WhatsApp chat instead?

Yes, iMessage would be using WiFi which would be free. I would suggest Facebook messenger as an alternative but they’re a bit young

Yep, I can message 3 of my teens for free on iPhone but the other one has a Samsung and so for him I use WhatsApp.

Can she set up a WhatsApp group and add them, then hopefully they'll all move to that?

WhatsApp is for 16s and over apparently!

No we're an Android only family.

Tbh I can't see us waiting until she is 16 for WhatsApp, am sure there will be a Y7 WA group shortly.
