Coding Holiday Camp

My children are 11 years old (twins) and have done some Scratch (I think) at school. Is it worth sending them to Coding Holiday Camp this summer or are they too young? Many thanks.

It's hard to think of something more boring or pointless.

Coding is something you have to do on a very regular basis or you simply forget.

My 9 year old loves code camp.

Thank you KnucklesMcGinty. Does your 9 year old attend code camp weekly or just during the holidays?

Just in the holidays. It's very similar to scratch, but more advanced. They make a game in a week. He enjoys it, but it's very expensive.

It depends if programming is something they are interested in and what they will be taught is done in the correct way. If it's something they just do every now and then, it may not be value for money. OTOH if they are showing a real interest in it, I'd certainly be encouraging it, but I'm biased, as it's programming is a large part of my job.

As a bit of a rant, I hate that it's called "coding" these days, it's programming. I'm possibly a bit precious over that, as I've been doing it for over 30 years, but it just seems someone has tried to put a fashionable label on it.

Yes the one we are interested in is nearly £500 for a week. It is very expensive. That’s why I wanted to make sure it is worth doing first. Thanks again.

My DS went to codecamp.co.uk.
It's on at various locations, usually only for 3 days at a time.

Thank you KnucklesMcGinty. I will investigate Smile

Do Barclays bank still run their Saturday morning courses? Our DS went regularly and loved it. They were free.
