Hi. Looking for advice please. I have divorced a controlling exh, he has a long history of lying and used a keyboard tracker, among other things, to try and monitor me in the past.

He has got our youngest a smart phone for Christmas and wants me to install Google Family link so we both monitor child's phone usage.

2 questions:

  • If I download the parent app will it automatically link to his parent app (he's already downloaded child part of app on dc phone)?
  • if the 2 parent apps do link, can he monitor my phone as well?

I might sound paranoid but I know what he's like Hmm

I wouldn't do this either. Did you want your youngest to have a smartphone?

If not they can use it at daddy's...
If he's got a tracker on it he will be able to track where u are when with dc.
If happy to for dc to have phone I would use my own monitor ... (kaspersky do one for example)

You don't have to do what he says!

Thank you @averythinline. Dc will start secondary school so not too worried about early (imo) smartphone. They already have basic mobile as walk to school alone.

I have put it back to exh that I'm not keen for various reasons. You're right, I don't have to do what he says. It's hard to re-programme after so many years. Thank you.

A secondary kid will sooner or later not want to be tracked. It does seem your XH has some attitude problem in this area. Don't enable him. Advise the kid that this is what XH has installed. And then watch with a bucket of popcorn from the side lines

Thanks @LurkingFather.
