How to download previous version of YouTube onto old iPad

Wondering if someone more tech savvy can help.
Ds has an old iPad I think it's either an iPad 1 or 2, today he accidentally deleted the YouTube app I've tried to reinstall but the newer version says it isn't compatible with his iPad.
He has autism and is non verbal so we've had a couple of meltdowns due to it no longer being on there.
Is there anyway I can download the older version? Any help much appreciated Smile

I don't think it's possible to get the older version any more but would he accept watching it via safari?

He might, I'll try tomorrow he might reject it though as it's not what he's used to.
He's getting a new iPad for Xmas. He's had his for a long time and it's getting a bit glitchy now so at least he will be able to have it back then if all else fails.

Did you ever back up the iPad to iTunes ? I think it retains the apps so you might be able to restore it from the back up

I finally managed to do it after watching numerous videos.
I had to log into my apple account on a more current device and download youtube.
Then go and find it in my purchased apps on my sons iPad. It wouldn't let me download the older version if I just searched for it but would allow it through my purchased apps for some reason.
He'll be really happy when he gets home from school and sees its back on there Smile
